Droopy eyelids may affect your vision, or you may find it bothersome. You have a tired, sad facial expression due to heavy or drooping eyelids. Droopy eyelids are usually the result of gravity but can also be genetic. The most common abnormality is too much skin on the upper eyelid and a droopy eyelid. These abnormalities can cause eye irritation or obstruct your vision enough to justify eyelid aesthetic. Of course, correcting the upper or lower eyelid aesthetic is possible.

Eyelid aesthetics is quite common, and this surgery will immediately make you ten years younger.

Who are the Ideal Candidates for Eyelid Aesthetics?

For such surgical procedures, you should first consult with our doctor. If there is no medical problem with the eyelid, you can easily have this operation. Eyelid surgery removes the sagging of the muscle and skin tissue in the upper and lower eyelids and tightens the eye area again. These problems can also occur after a certain age. For these reasons, aesthetic eyelid surgery is usually more appropriate if performed after age 35. Because before this age, there is no sagging of the eyelid. During the visit for eyelid surgery, you should evaluate the position of the eye muscles very well.

At the same time, our doctor evaluates possible surgical risk factors such as dry eye, thyroid disease, or diabetes. The severity and number of health conditions may interfere with eyelid aesthetics. Smoking increases the risk of surgical complications. Because wounds heal more slowly in smokers, in some patients with goiter, a more protruding eye may complicate or prevent surgery.

Eyelid Aesthetics Procedure Steps

Check out the procedure steps for eyelid aesthetics:

1

Preparation and consultation

Our surgeon will do some clinical tests and measurements for you. During the consultation, you can discuss your questions with our surgeon. Any preoperative eyelid evaluation will include a complete ocular examination with visual acuity and dry eye investigation, ability to close the eyelids effectively (absence of lagophthalmia), and assessment of the orbital bone framework. Our doctor will perform a complete eyelid clinical examination, including:

  1. Upper eyelid height, presence of upper palpebral groove, evaluation of excess skin.
  2. Evaluation of lubrication in the lower eyelid and three fat compartments,
  3. Distribution of excess skin and supporting tissues and associated tendons at the level of relaxation.
2

Anesthesia

Our doctor will systematically take preoperative photos of your face. The intervention performs under local anesthesia enhanced by sedation in outpatient surgery in the clinic on both eyelids simultaneously. These allow you to have a comfortable and painless procedure.

3

Incision

The first step for eyelid aesthetics is to mark the areas to remove with a felt-tip pen. At this stage, the doctor asks for your participation so that the levels of the incisions can be accurately determined. The surgeon then proceeds to inject the local anesthetic.

4

Upper and lower eyelid

In this surgery, the surgeon removes the excess skin on the upper eyelid and the excess fat. In lower eyelid surgery, the doctor removes the excess fat from the inside of the eye (transconjunctival approach), reducing the complication rate of pulling on the lower eyelid. If there is excess skin, the excess skin tissue remove from the lower eyelid with an incision made 1 mm below the eyelashes. The operation takes an average of 1-1.5 hours.
